Our first goal in Chiang Rai was the Wat Rong Khun, also known as the "White Temple", located about 15 km south to the city.
As you can see it has a unique style, and you probably guessed that it is not very old. It has actually been designed by the contemporary painter/architect Chalermchai Kositpipat, and it construction started in 1997. There are still some parts under construction, and the inside still needs some paintings.
