The Campanile (Bell Tower) dominates the square with its about 100m height. Its construction in the current shape started in 1511 and was terminated 3 years later.
In 1902, the Campanile suddenly crumbled. Its reconstruction started immediately after and was terminated in 1912, restoring it exactly as it was before.
