28.Canale.delle.Sacche * This was the start of a late day (no visits or walk around until 5pm). We are now in the northern Canale delle Sacche, which divides Venice from the continental land. On the horizon you see the Ponte della Liberta' (Bridge of Liberty), the only and very long bridge (3.85 km) which connects Venice to the rest of the world. It was built during the fascist era in 1931. The original name was Ponte Littorio, renamed to the actual name after WWII to honor the allies. * 4341 x 2894 * (4.05MB)
