21.Otsunegoten * The Otsunegoten was built in 1590 and was used as the Emperor's residence until the capital was transferred to Tokyo in 1869. You cannot really see it from here, but it is the largest structure in the Palace grounds with 15 rooms. * 1743 x 1080 * (403KB)
25.Kogosho * This is the the Kogosho building, used as a ceremonial hall for celebrating the Coming-of-Age of the Crown Prince as well as on those occasions when the Emperor received the Shogun (military ruler of feudal Japan) and Daimyo (feudal lords). 20.Kogosho.Azumaasobi * In the Kogosho, there is a reproduction of the Azumasoobi dance performance, which was originally the commonalty performance of Eastern Japan. It was then adopted in the Imperial Court in the Heian Period (794-1185). Later on, you will see photos of real dancers and musicians performing the Azumaasobi, in the Shinmikurumayose stage (where you saw the female dancers mannequins before). * 1944 x 1296 * (755KB)
