23.Cielo.dei.sospiri * Here it's how the Ponte dei Sospiri (Bridge of Sighs) looked like when we found it (I totally forgot it was right behind the Palazzo Ducale and I searched for it on all maps in vain...). It's the link between the Palazzo and the prison, and Its name comes from the idea that the condemned were supposed to see the light of the day for their last time in their life through those windows.
The wrappers for the restoration works made it poetically look like suspended in the sky. The writing you see below the bridge means Sky of Sighs. * 2185 x 3277 * (2.89MB)

27.Caffe.Quadri * At night, three historical cafes in the Piazza have their own quartet playing evergreens in their classic/jazz formation. They alternate each other, but sometime two of them play at the same time. * 3801 x 2534 * (3.85MB)

30.Basilica * A series of forbidden photos inside the Basilica. The gold is the dominant color, most of the walls are covered with gorgeous mosaics, mostly from the renaissance period (some remainings of original medieval mosaics are exposed in the museum). * 2127 x 3191 * (5.28MB)

35.Quadriga * The four horses over the main door on the facade are a prize brought to Venice from the sack of Constantinople during the fourth crusade (around 1254). They date to Classical antiquity and at that time they were exposed at the hyppodrome of Constantinople.
The current horses are 1990's replicas of the original ones, which have been put inside the museum and restored. * 3504 x 2336 * (4.07MB)
